The short version: Cinedex collects what it needs to run the game
and nothing else. No ads, no selling data, no tracking you across other apps.
Your account and everything in it can be deleted from inside the app, permanently,
in one tap.
What we collect
Your account. A user ID, a username, and — if you sign in with
Apple — the email address Apple shares (which can be Apple's private relay address).
Guest accounts have no email at all.
Your film data. The duels you play, films you mark seen or not
seen, your watchlist, the streaming services and country you select, and the people
you follow. This is the product: it's how your ranking and the global charts exist.
A push token, only if you turn notifications on. It's used to
tell you when a saved film lands on one of your services, and it's removed when you
sign out or turn notifications off.
Usage analytics. Which screens and features get used, tied to
your user ID — never your email — so we can see what's worth improving. No advertising
identifiers, no cross-app tracking.
Crash reports. If the app crashes, a technical report is sent so
the bug can be fixed. Crash data isn't linked to your identity.
Where it lives
Supabase hosts the database and accounts, in the EU
(Frankfurt, eu-central-1).
PostHog processes usage analytics, on EU servers.
Sentry processes crash reports, on EU (Germany) servers.
Expo delivers push notifications and app updates.
TMDB supplies film information, and poster artwork loads from
TMDB's image servers. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or
certified by TMDB.
These providers process data on Cinedex's behalf to run the service —
none of them gets to use your data for their own purposes.
Shared reels
When you share an Instagram reel or TikTok to Cinedex, the link you shared is sent
to our server, which reads the post's public caption and, for film lists, may fetch the
video's audio through processing services to transcribe it and identify the films named.
What's kept is the link, the film titles found, and which films you chose to save —
not the video.
What's public
Being findable (your username appearing in search, and joining
movie nights) is on by default and can be turned off in Settings.
Your ranked list is private unless you explicitly publish it.
The global charts are aggregates. Your individual picks are
never shown to anyone.
What we never do
No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
No selling or renting data to anyone.
No tracking you across other companies' apps or websites.
Deleting your account
Settings → DELETE ACCOUNT. It's immediate and permanent: your account, duels, list,
watchlist and follows are deleted from the servers. The global charts keep only the
anonymous aggregate effect of votes already counted — nothing that identifies you or
reconstructs your list.
Your rights
You can access everything the app holds about you inside the app itself, correct it
by using the app, and erase it with account deletion. For anything else — a copy of
your data, a question, a complaint — email
support and it will be handled directly. If you're in the EU/EEA,
you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Cinedex is not directed at children under 13, and the App Store listing is rated
accordingly.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change
applies. The effective date above always reflects the current version.
